Well, in a few days we will have a new president. I do not envy the guy one bit. So many expectations and so little time. I have been reading some of the plans of the 21 st century version of the "New Deal" that I learned so well in High School (thanks Mr. Naill). Anyhow, here is my take-- yes, let's create new jobs, let's fix the infrastructure of the country (we need bridges, new power grids, roads, light rail, etc.). But, please no more bailouts-- I would like to know where this secret money tree is so we can plant a forest of them : )
Seriously, can some of the jobs that are created be jobs for people trained to teach others how to manage finances. You create jobs by needing teachers (accountants, hire people from faith based programs -- FPU, crown, etc. -- ask Warren Buffet he'll know some qualified people), you also then produce people who are financially independent. THEN you can reward the people who take these classes (who BTW are now responsible with their money) with a stimulus check.
Hey, maybe even give a stimulus check to people who have been fiscally responsible (no late bills, money in savings, retirement account...) for a minimum of 3 years or so. It wouldn't be that hard to look up they have all that info from our tax returns right?? : ) If there are some stipulations like this on the stimulus checks then the economy will be boosted--why you ask?-- because these are the people with liquid assets that can spend cash and in turn boost the economy. Finally, all these financially responsible people will also have income to give to charitable organizations that will in turn give a hand up to those who are in need. Yeah, a hand up not a hand out!
Perhaps, if we teach people to be good stewards of their own money then the government will follow suit-- cuz you know the government isn't the example we need right now! I guess a grassroots effort is needed for change in giving, saving, and spending. After all, isn't what this new administration has promised CHANGE. Apparently, I have some expectations er, ideas as well!
