New Skills

Have you ever thought back to the first time you whistled (which I'm still waiting for!), or maybe the first time you tied your shoes by yourself (I was in Kindergarten- the 1st in my class that could), or perhaps the first time you blew a bubble with your gum? Well, we had a first this week-- Noah snapped his fingers for the first time. He worked at it while watching TV and while riding in the van. He tried it during school and during his chores. He finally got it and got it loud enough for all to hear and is quite proud of himself. He is especially stoked since he can snap louder than Nathan!

His new ability has made me stop and think. When was the last time that I tried something new and worked at it and kept trying until I got it? You know, not giving up because it took too much time, or I didn't catch on quickly, or I felt too grown up to try it. I need to try some new things and I don't just mean eating asparagus-- something that makes me uncomfortable and I have to work at. I started working out this week and today was a step aerobics class. I loved it in spite of not being very good. I think I will work at this and keep trying so I can be stoked about learning something new. See ya Monday at the gym!
